The Impact of Social Media on Web Design Part 3

So here we are, this is our last and final blog about how social media has an impact on web design. By now, you should have read Part 1 and Part 2, if not make sure you read them first. This blog will discuss how you can add social media to your web design to make it an easy process for you!

How to Add Social Media to Your Web Designs

Now that you have a better understanding of how social media can influence your web design, we will focus on several ways that you can add social media to your web design:

1) Inform your customers which social media sites you are active on

So as we briefly mentioned in our first blog, make sure you place icons of the social media sites you are on, onto your website. It is a must to place these on your homepage, however we recommend placing these icons on all your pages.

The most important thing to remember, is to make sure the icons are visible. Because let’s face it, if it is hidden away or not immediately visible you are making it less likely for that interaction to occur with your users. Also, don’t forget to add a call-to-action that asks your visitors to ‘like’ or ‘follow’ your brand.

For example,

This is how we here at FDC ensure our icons are on our website, plus our social media icons are visible on every single page, so it’s easy access for our customers.

2) Make your website design social media friendly

To boost your success, design your website, from code to content, in a method that complements social media user experience. You can do this by replacing or creating a homepage content that feeds from multiple sources like blog feeds or live social media feeds.

3) Sharable content

When people love something, they want to talk about it and want to share it. Make it easy for your visitors to do this, by embedding the ability to share on all your pages. Make sure there are social sharing buttons on all your content and product pages.

4) Incorporate reviews

User reviews have a great impact on the decision making of new clients. Incorporating some of the reviews from your social networking sites will help build great testimonials. Featuring reviews helps users make that ultimate decision. However, there will always be negative reviews, so make sure you keep an eye on what users are posting and moderate the comments that appear on your website and social media page.

5) YouTube Videos

Did you know that embedding YouTube videos to your website can boost your search engine ranking more, the more reviews your videos have? Well now that you do, it may be something to consider.

Take our example, here at FDC.

So now you have it, a clear understanding of how social media can influence the way you create your web design. It is important to consider all of these points to make sure you are making the best out of your social media and web design practices.
