SEO Search Engine Optimisation

How localised search is taking over, and why we’ve changed our telephone number.

The latest of Google’s updates (Code named Venice) was created to improve local results and with it Google has placed more emphasis on localised search results in an effort to end the days of thumbing through giant Yellow pages. Seo in Leicester

So that we remain relevant to our geographical location in the SERPs FDC has changed its telephone numbers. As business or trader it’s something we think you should consider too from an SEO point of view.

Google’s main aim is to provide reliable information on local search results within the scope of what’s being searched for, including, pictures, customer reviews and contact information within the demographic and localised area of the user. It’s quite evident that together with an optimised website and clear link building strategy it’s crucial to have consistent and unique information for local customers too.

Your localised search engine positions may improve with a local phone number. Here is our top tip on how to choose the best ones;

  • Use a local phone number instead of a call centre number whenever possible.
  • Do not provide phone numbers or URLs that redirect or “refer” users to landing pages or phone numbers other than those of the actual business.

So if you’re looking to boost your search presence locally, consider a localised listing in Google Maps, Google Places, and Bing.

Oh and if you’re wondering what our local number is, here it is!
