Here at FDC we have plenty of interesting clients covering all UK sectors, but it is officially the first time we have taken on a project involving a historic tourist attraction.
The famous railway station in Cambridgeshire has been the home of Thomas the Tank Engine since 1972 as well as having a wealth of other attractions. Many people within the organisation sensed the station was going unnoticed and felt as though it was time that the awareness was increased to show off the site's full potential.
NVR managing director Cris Rees was looking for a marketing agency to build a new website to help them move forward with the look and feel of the company, but at the same time they also wanted to start selling more tickets through the site and eventually become a more commercially focused organisation.
After researching into what other attractions were doing in the area they came across the Holmewood Hall conference venue. After enquiring about who had created and developed the site Nene Valley Railway contacted FDC to see if they could offer them a solution. The Leicester based design agency went up against two other companies, but eventually won the opportunity to build the Railways site and move the historic company's online proposition forward.
The build starts in early July - more to follow.
