Overview
Industry: Illustration
Career Background: Tom has been illustrating professionally since 2004, with an impressive client list boasting household names such as M&S, Aardman and Topshop. Working in a number of different graphic design jobs since leaving university, Tom had never got around to getting a website designed to display his work. The main priority was to be able to send a web link to potential customers so they could view samples of his work instantly and effortlessly. Tom was also keen to ensure that the design, look and feel of the website didn't appeal more to certain clients more than others, as his work is varied and wide-ranging in style.
Required: A website that would act as an on-line gallery for prospective clients. While looking stylish and designled, the site's design had to provide a suitably neutral backdrop for Tom's work.
Benefits: Imaginative web design from FDC
Need:
Working in a number of different graphic design jobs since leaving university, Tom had never got around to getting a website designed to display his work. The main priority was to be able to send a web link to potential customers so they could view samples of his work instantly and effortlessly. Tom was also keen to ensure that the design, look and feel of the website didn't appeal more to certain clients more than others, as his work is varied and wide-ranging in style.
Solution:
Tom was put in touch with FDC and three other design agencies via a referrals website. After discussions with each agency, Tom opted for FDC because of their straightforward approach and friendliness.
Tom recalls: "Straight away, Alex was really enthusiastic about what I wanted and understood where I was coming from. My job is unusual, so I wanted my website to reflect that.
And as a creative professional myself, I know how important the rapport between client and designer is.
"The initial designs did need a bit of playing with, but we worked really closely together on it. Alex had no problem with me wanting to have quite a large input all the way along."It's so important to listen to what a client wants. Alex understood that and let me explain what I wanted.
"The cost was a fair price, especially considering the time spent on the site, and the changes we made.
